A Purposeful Print & Paper Partnership that Offers Sustainable Solutions
Shawmut & Monadnock Paper Mills
"Our environmental commitment started with my grandparents when they founded the company back in 1951. Back then no one used the word ‘sustainability,’ but that generation reused and repurposed almost everything. My grandparents were stewards of the environment, givers within communities, and they deeply cared for every person they met. To us, being sustainable encompasses all of these values."
-Kristin Spanier, Sustainability Program Director, Shawmut Communications GroupLet’s tackle your sustainability goals, together.
Shawmut Communications Group and Monadnock Paper Mills have forged a partnership with a focus on two things: customer satisfaction and the environment. The partnership provides clients with an opportunity to create responsibly-sourced marketing materials produced in a certified green print facility.
A Commitment to Sustainability
The Challenge
It can be difficult for eco-conscious brands to find a sustainable printer AND paper supplier with a streamlined production process.
The Solution
Working with Shawmut and Monadnock ensures that you’re working with a printer and paper team that shares your sustainability goals.
The Benefit
Our synchronized partnership combines Monadnock’s unique paper and packaging materials along with Shawmut’s eco-design, production, and marketing capabilities. The result is a tailor-made solution that’s created with sustainability in mind.
Sustainability is More Than a Company Goal
Both Shawmut and Monadnock have an unwavering commitment to sustainability, and both have an impressive list of certifications to prove it.
Shawmut was the first commercial printer in Massachusetts to earn the industry-leading Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) certification. Monadnock is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC® 018866) certified, their papers are manufactured carbon-neutral and they use 100% renewable electricity.
Certifications are great, but the real reason Shawmut and Monadnock are committed to sustainability is simple: it’s the right thing to do.
“Monadnock views people, partnerships, and community as the most valuable assets of all,” Monadnock’s Sustainability Solutions Director Julie Brannen says. She explains that these are the very values that the 200-year-old privately-owned paper mill was founded on. “As a result, we strive to create the most innovative products that demonstrate environmentally superior alternatives to the world’s existing substrates.”
Similarly, Shawmut’s commitment to the environment stems from its humble beginnings.
“Our environmental commitment started with my grandparents when they founded the company back in 1951,” explains Shawmut’s Sustainability Program Director, Kristin Spanier. “Back then no one used the word ‘sustainability,’ but that generation reused and repurposed almost everything. My grandparents were stewards of the environment, givers within communities, and, most importantly, they deeply cared for every person they met. To us, being sustainable encompasses all of these values.”
Proof of a Purposeful Partnership
Shawmut and Monadnock continue to work together to produce sustainably-minded projects that benefit customers and their communities.
